Islamabad (Lord Media): Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb received a detailed briefing from SECP officials on the organization’s performance and ongoing reforms. The briefing revealed that 18,057 new companies have been registered since January 2026, with a record 109,878 post-incorporation processes completed in the country.
SECP has issued 149 new licenses for various sectors. The meeting provided information on converting manual shares of unlisted companies into digital book entry form, completion of the central UBO registry portal, and the initiation of online information submission by companies.
The briefing highlighted ongoing work to introduce an AI-based system for company registration, and plans to establish business facilitation centers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
Details were also shared about resolving issues faced by the Chinese consortium in the Pakistan Stock Exchange and the conditional approval of the PSX real estate assets demerger scheme.
The investment limit in the Sahulat Account has been increased from 1 million to 3 million rupees, and the Capital Market Development Fund has been officially launched. Since January 2026, initial public shares of 10 companies have been approved.
An easy interface for trading gold via an app is being developed, and the process for opening and verifying digital accounts for mutual fund investors has been simplified.
The meeting informed that under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Program, non-banking finance companies have been given the status of financial institutions. The first digital Shariah-compliant financing product “Khudmukhtar Khatoon” has been launched to promote women’s businesses.
The Shariah screening framework has been tightened, reducing the debt-to-asset ratio from 37% to 33%, and brokers are now allowed Shariah-compliant window operations.
The briefing also noted that motor third-party insurance has been implemented in Sindh, increasing the compensation limit for accident victims from 20,000 to 700,000 rupees. Insurance policies have surged from 11,000 to over 165,000.
