Chitral (Lord Media): Rescue 1122 in Lower Chitral successfully evacuated over 200 passengers during a flash flood, ensuring their safety. According to a spokesperson, the flash flood and debris flow, caused by heavy monsoon rains, blocked several points on the Darosh to Ashirat highway, trapping many vehicles.
Under the supervision of the District Emergency Officer, Rescue 1122 Lower Chitral conducted a prompt and effective rescue operation, relocating over 200 passengers to safe locations. Upon receiving the alert, rescuers at Sheshi Koh and Breg Nisaar watch points acted as first responders, while additional teams from the district headquarters soon arrived at the scene.
The rescue teams continued their operations for six hours in affected areas including Kalkatak, Kaldam Gol, Swir, and Ashirat. During this time, four vehicles trapped in debris were moved to safety, ensuring the secure movement of all passengers.
The operation involved 20 personnel from Rescue 1122, three ambulances, and a disaster response vehicle. Throughout the operation, effective coordination was maintained with the National Highway Authority (NHA) and district administration to ensure road restoration and public safety. According to Rescue 1122, there were no casualties or injuries reported in this flash flood incident, thanks to divine grace.
