Ayodhya (Lord Media): Employees at a donation counting center in Ayodhya’s Ram Temple have been implicated in embezzling millions of rupees, exploiting security system flaws to steal despite multiple protective layers.
Investigations began following allegations of irregularities in donations. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) revealed that initially, a few employees started stealing 500 rupee notes. The theft escalated to an alleged embezzlement of approximately 20 to 30 million rupees.
The investigation found that some members of the donation counting staff exploited CCTV surveillance weaknesses and a flawed security system. Employees would hide notes in their pockets or clothing to smuggle them out, eventually stealing large sums.
It was discovered that six employees began stealing a few months after starting their jobs. Their confidence grew, and they progressed from taking individual notes to stealing bundles of cash.
The accused admitted to stealing around 20 to 30 million rupees, using the stolen money to purchase properties in Ayodhya and other locations. On June 4 and 5, authorities raided locations linked to the accused, recovering approximately 7.9 million rupees in cash and jewelry.
The SIT stated that the issue is not limited to a few individuals’ thefts but also exposes significant flaws in the security measures designed to protect devotees’ donations.
