Lahore (Lord Media): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of the ‘Apna Ghar, Safe Home’ scheme to prevent incidents like the Kahna tragedy. She chaired a meeting where the decision was made to introduce this new category under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister was informed that 217.8 billion rupees have been allocated for this project. According to the announcement, interest-free loans with easy installments have been approved for over 180,000 homeless families.
The announcement stated that 500,000 rupees will be provided as interest-free loans to make dilapidated houses safe, while up to 1 million rupees will be available for new construction or additional floors. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Punjab government will support improvements in precarious constructions and will not tolerate negligence in these projects.
Maryam Nawaz clarified that no burden will be placed on the poor, and there will be no changes in the loan acquisition regulations, highlighting that actions during crises reflect good governance.
