Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Satluj’ halted amid censorship dispute

Mumbai (Lord Media): The Indian film ‘Satluj’, featuring Diljit Dosanjh, has faced an unexpected ban. Released online without any cuts, the film was removed from Zee5 just two days later. Zee5 stated that the film was temporarily halted considering the current situation.

Previously titled ‘Punjab 95’, the film faced demands from the censor board for over 125 cuts, which the filmmakers rejected. The film is based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, who investigated missing persons in Punjab during the 1980s and 90s.

Director Honey Trehan criticized the censor board, stating it demanded several changes, including removing Jaswant Singh Khalra’s name. Diljit Dosanjh also expressed disappointment over the decision.

The ban reignites debates on cinematic freedom, censorship, and the sensitive topics of Punjab’s history.
