Lebanese villages reject Israeli annexation claim

Beirut (Lord Media): Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has claimed that some Christian villages in southern Lebanon wish to annex with Israel for protection against Hezbollah. However, these villages have denied the claim, stating they have never requested to join Israel and remain committed to their Lebanese identity.

Netanyahu, in an interview with a U.S. broadcaster, said that certain Christian villages in southern Lebanon expressed a desire to join Israel due to their opposition to Hezbollah and the protection Israel offers. He did not provide names or further details about these villages.

On Friday, Christian villages in southern Lebanon refuted these reports, asserting that no individual or entity has the authority to make such a decision and they remain loyal to their land and the Lebanese flag.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, supporting direct negotiations with Israel, stated that his government will not cede an inch of Lebanese land to Israel. It remains unclear if his statement was related to these villages or Israel’s established security zone.

According to reports, Israel has occupied parts of southern Lebanon, establishing a security zone and conducting intermittent air and ground attacks. The recent conflict resulted in approximately 4,300 Lebanese deaths and displaced 1.2 million people.

Netanyahu, at an official ceremony, stated that the Israeli military will remain in southern Lebanon and continue necessary actions to protect northern Israeli citizens. Israeli military chief General Eyal Zamir also visited the Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, reaffirming the commitment to eliminating threats.
