Tehran (Lord Media): Tehran’s metro network experienced an unusual surge in passengers during the funeral and last rites of Iran’s martyred Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Over 7 million people traveled on the metro between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, according to semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
Authorities had advised citizens to use the metro instead of private vehicles to ease traffic congestion and facilitate public movement. In response, Tehran Metro administration operated additional trains and increased staff at several stations to ensure passenger guidance and convenience.
Iranian officials reported that millions from across the country arrived in Tehran for the funeral, placing extraordinary pressure on the metro, roads, and other public transport systems. Effective public transport management successfully transported a large number of attendees to the ceremony venue, maintaining traffic control.
High-ranking Iranian officials, religious figures, and representatives from various countries attended the funeral, with millions of mourners paying tribute to their leader.
