Petrol price includes over Rs118 in taxes, levies and margins

Islamabad (Lord Media): Details of levies, taxes, and various margins included in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel have been revealed. A total of 118.76 rupees in levies, taxes, and margins are being charged per litre of petrol, while 110.65 rupees are applied to high-speed diesel.

According to documents, the basic cost of one litre of petrol is 178.77 rupees, but the government has set the price for citizens at 297.53 rupees per litre. This includes a petroleum levy of 70.36 rupees, a climate support levy of 5 rupees, customs duty of 19.33 rupees, an inland freight equalization margin of 6.86 rupees, oil marketing companies’ margin of 7.87 rupees, and dealers’ margin of 8.64 rupees.

Similarly, the basic cost of one litre of high-speed diesel is 198.85 rupees, while the government has set its price at 309.50 rupees per litre. A total of 110.65 rupees in levies, taxes, and various margins are being charged on high-speed diesel.

The new price of petrol is 297.53 rupees per litre, and the new price of diesel is 309.50 rupees per litre. The new price of kerosene is 231.14 rupees per litre.
