Sanaa (Lord Media): Yemen’s Houthi rebels have warned Saudi Arabia of targeting its airports and key installations if there is further interference in Yemen’s airspace or obstruction of Iranian aircraft. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated in a video message that Saudi Arabia should refrain from meddling in Yemen’s airspace, or face a strong response.
Yahya Saree claimed that the Houthis thwarted an attempt by Saudi warplanes to enter Yemen’s airspace. According to him, the operation aimed to prevent an Iranian civilian aircraft, carrying over 200 Yemeni citizens, from landing at Sanaa Airport.
Houthi media reported that the plane later returned to Tehran, with a Houthi delegation on board intending to attend Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral.
These threats come at a time when tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis had shown signs of easing. In May, both parties agreed on a prisoner exchange.
The conflict in Yemen, ongoing since 2015, has affected millions and created a humanitarian crisis.
