Lahore (Lord Media): All private schools in Lahore are now required to obtain building fitness certificates. Without this certificate, registration or renewal of any private school will not be possible.
According to sources, approximately 3,500 private schools in Lahore will need to acquire building fitness certificates. A special inspection of private schools operating in rented and residential buildings has also been decided.
The proposal suggests a complete structural safety audit of private school buildings, recommending the hiring of third-party engineering consultants for safety inspections to ensure transparency and adherence to technical standards.
Under the plan, school buildings will be inspected through destructive and non-destructive testing to accurately assess the strength and safety standards of the buildings.
The School Education Department has also been advised to develop a comprehensive system for issuing building fitness certificates across Punjab.
The recommendations emphasize that third-party inspections should ensure transparency, technical standards, and timely action, while identifying unsafe private educational institutions to ensure the protection of students’ lives and property.
