Islamabad (Lord Media): The number of electric vehicles in Pakistan is expected to reach 2.2 million by 2030, driven by the increasing trend towards sustainable transportation. During a Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production meeting, a briefing on the electric vehicle policy revealed that approximately 2.2 million electric vehicles of various types would be on Pakistan’s roads by 2030.
The briefing further disclosed that over 12,800 electric cars and nearly 160,000 electric motorcycles have been manufactured in the country so far. The government has allocated 9 billion rupees in subsidies for two- and three-wheeler electric vehicles, while eligible individuals purchasing electric motorcycles are receiving a subsidy of 80,000 rupees per motorcycle.
