Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM criticizes federal govt

Peshawar (Lord Media): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has accused the federal government of artificially controlling the U.S. dollar rate, claiming it could reach 500 rupees. Speaking during the provincial assembly’s budget session, he alleged that the federal government is not providing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa its due NFC share.

During the budget session, the Chief Minister praised his team for preparing an excellent budget and urged the opposition to celebrate the release of their leader, if not the budget itself.

Afridi pointed out that Pakistan’s GDP growth stands at 3 percent, whereas it should be at least 5 percent. He criticized the federal government, stating that those ‘forcibly brought in’ cannot address the 36 bn U.S. dollars trade deficit.

In a surprising move, Afridi called security guard Arif Khattak into the assembly to commend his services, prompting protests from the opposition who objected to bringing an unrelated person into the assembly.

Opposition members chanted slogans in support of Nawaz Sharif during the session.
