Houston (Lord Media): Portugal triumphed over Uzbekistan with a 5-0 victory in the FIFA World Cup 2026, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s stellar performance. Ronaldo scored twice, securing Portugal’s first win in the group stage.
Portugal took the lead in the first half when 41-year-old Ronaldo scored a remarkable goal in the sixth minute. Nuno Mendes extended the lead to 2-0 with a stunning free-kick goal in the 17th minute.
An Uzbek goal was disallowed due to a foul. Ronaldo netted his second goal in the 39th minute, giving Portugal a 3-0 advantage.
In the second half, Portugal maintained their aggressive play. In the 60th minute, a corner from Bruno Fernandes led to an own goal by Joao Felix, making it 4-0.
Rafael Leao scored with a brilliant finish in the 87th minute, bringing Portugal’s score to 5-0. Ronaldo came close to a hat-trick but missed the opportunity.
Ronaldo set a new FIFA World Cup record by becoming the first footballer to score in six different World Cup editions. He also became the second oldest goal-scorer in World Cup history.
