Tesla crashes into home in Texas, kills woman

Texas (Lord Media): A Tesla car in autopilot mode crashed into a home in Texas, resulting in the death of 76-year-old Martha Avila. The incident occurred on June 19 in the city of Katy. U.S. authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the role of the autopilot system.

Driver Michael Butler claimed that the car’s autopilot system was active at the time of the accident, while Tesla’s head of autopilot, Ashok Elluswamy, stated that the driver overrode the system by pressing the accelerator. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 73 miles per hour.

The U.S. road safety agency has initiated a special investigation into the crash to ascertain if a malfunction in the autopilot system was responsible. The agency is already conducting multiple investigations.
