Paris (Lord Media): A severe heatwave in Europe has resulted in the deaths of 18 people in France. Among them, 5 succumbed to the extreme heat, while 13 drowned while swimming.
In the central French city of Poitiers, a 78-year-old temperature record was broken, with temperatures reaching 41.2 degrees Celsius. In Bordeaux, western France, temperatures soared to 41.9 degrees Celsius, surpassing the record set last August.
Due to the intense heat, French authorities have implemented emergency measures in several regions, temporarily closing many schools. The meteorological department forecasts that the heat will persist in various parts of Europe for the coming days.
