Amjad Hussain to be sworn in as Gilgit CM soon

Gilgit (Lord Media): Amjad Hussain Advocate, the provincial president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Gilgit-Baltistan, has announced his swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan in the coming days. Hussain has gained significant recognition in the region through his political acumen and public service.

Born in 1975 in Amphary, Gilgit, into a political and social family, Hussain’s father, Azar Khan, was also affiliated with the PPP and served as the chairman of Gilgit district.

Hussain received his early education from a government school in Gilgit and later earned an LLB degree from Punjab University. He soon became the district president of the People’s Students Federation.

In the legal field, Hussain has rendered notable services, having served as the president of the Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council and as a senior lawyer at the Supreme Appellate Court.

Under his leadership, the PPP won four seats in the 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, securing the highest number of votes despite the federal government being led by the PTI.

As Chief Minister, Hussain’s vision focuses on the right to governance, ownership, employment, institutional reforms, and addressing youth issues. He is committed to a prosperous and developed future for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
