Taliban detain aid workers over beard issue

Kabul (Lord Media): In Afghanistan, Taliban authorities have detained around 20 aid workers for having trimmed beards. According to an international news agency, the detained individuals were working at the Islam Qala border crossing near the Iran-Afghanistan border and were affiliated with United Nations partner organizations.

The International Organization for Migration stated that the Taliban’s moral police arrested these workers at the Islam Qala reception center for trimming or not having beards. Some of the aid workers were released on the same day, while others were freed the following day.

The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has refrained from commenting on the incident.
