Newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan members sworn in

Gilgit (Lord Media): Thirty newly elected members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly were sworn in today. The oath was administered by Assembly Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate, who later congratulated the members. The members include 13 from the Pakistan People’s Party, 9 from the Pakistan Muslim League (N), 6 from the Istehkam Pakistan Party, 1 from Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, and 1 independent member.

Today’s session will also see the election of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Chief Minister. Imran Nadeem of the People’s Party has been elected unopposed as Speaker, while Amjad Hussain Advocate is also set to be elected unopposed as Chief Minister.

The assembly session has been adjourned until 3 PM, when the election for the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker will take place. Notifications for three constituencies in Gilgit remain pending due to a court order.
