This statement came prior to U.S.-Iran technical talks at the Burgenstock Resort, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir met with the U.S. Vice President and the Iranian delegation.
The Burgenstock Resort became a hub of diplomatic activity ahead of U.S.-Iran talks mediated by Pakistan and Qatar. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir warmly welcomed U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who embraced Field Marshal Asim Munir during their meeting.
Following the talks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir also met with Iranian Speaker Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information Minister Atta Tarar were also present at the meeting.
The Pakistani Foreign Office announced that technical-level talks between the U.S. and Iran, as part of implementing a memorandum of understanding, will be held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on June 21.
According to U.S. media, Vice President JD Vance and other American officials are likely to travel to Switzerland to participate in the negotiations.
