Iran-US ceasefire talks begin in Switzerland

The first round of technical talks on the implementation of the Iran-US ceasefire agreement has commenced in Switzerland.

The initial session includes bilateral and trilateral discussions, while the second session of talks between the US and Iran will take place in the afternoon in Bürgenstock. Representatives from the US, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar are participating.

A Foreign Office spokesperson stated that Pakistan will continue to play its role in implementing the agreements reached between the two countries. During the Swiss talks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Iranian, Qatari, Swiss, and US delegations, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to negotiations and sustainable peace.

The spokesperson further added that Pakistan’s facilitation in the crisis reflects a principled, balanced, and constructive stance. Hosting the initial rounds of US-Iran negotiations and maintaining continuous diplomatic contacts are results of Pakistan’s sincere efforts for global peace.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry welcomed the Pakistani delegation, noting that they have arrived in Bürgenstock from Zurich. Pakistan is participating as a mediator in the Iran-US talks.

US Vice President JD Vance and the head of the Iranian delegation, Baqer Qalibaf, are present in Switzerland for the negotiations. Vance told the media that the visit aims to progress on the nuclear issue and advance the Lebanon ceasefire matter.
