Islamabad (Lord Media): Prime Minister has constituted a high-level ten-member committee to review the controversial clauses of the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-Organization) Amendment Bill 2026 following public and parliamentary objections. The committee is tasked to submit its recommendations and report to the Prime Minister within three days.
The committee will be headed by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and includes Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Attorney General, Senator Sherry Rehman, National Assembly member Javed Hanif, and Barrister Zafarullah among others.
The committee is responsible for examining the legal, constitutional, and administrative aspects of the bill’s controversial clauses. It will review orders related to access to private properties, including individually owned properties, housing societies, and other collective ownership entities, aiming to establish a balance between the installation of telecommunication infrastructure and the protection of property rights.
The opposition has not been given any representation in the committee, although it has been clarified that more members can be added if necessary.
