Gilgit (Lord Media): The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has officially announced the notification of elected assembly members for the 2026 general elections. The Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians emerged as the leading party, securing the most victories in general seats with a total of 13 seats.
According to the notification issued by Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz, the names of successful candidates for 21 general, 6 women, and 3 technocrat seats have been released under the Election Act 2017 and Election Rules 2017.
The Pakistan Muslim League (N) secured 9 seats, while the Istehkam Pakistan Party became the third-largest party with 6 seats. Additionally, MWM and an independent candidate each won one seat.
As per the orders of the Supreme Court of Gilgit-Baltistan, the results of 3 constituencies remain withheld due to a judicial decision, and notifications for these constituencies have not been issued.
