Indian cricket board allows young player’s parents

Mumbai (Lord Media): The Indian cricket board has clarified its decision to allow the parents of 15-year-old cricketer Vaibhu Suryavanshi to accompany him on tours. The Indian team has granted permission for Vaibhu’s parents to travel with him during the tours of Ireland and England in June and July. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia explained that Vaibhu Suryavanshi is still considered a child and is joining the senior team for the first time. Saikia noted that it is rare for a 14 or 15-year-old to play at the senior level, and Vaibhu is a unique talent akin to Sachin Tendulkar’s entry into the national team decades ago.

He further stated that a child joining the national team may face several challenges, and having parents around could help him feel comfortable and adjust to the senior players’ environment. Saikia mentioned that this initiative aims to alleviate issues related to Vaibhu Suryavanshi.
