Monterrey (Lord Media): Tunisia has dismissed national team coach Sabri Lamouchi following a crushing 1-5 defeat against Sweden in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Tunisian Football Federation announced the decision on Tuesday. Lamouchi, appointed in January with a two-year contract, managed to secure only one win out of five matches.
Prior to the World Cup, Tunisia also faced defeats in warm-up matches against Austria and Belgium. The humiliating loss to Sweden has further complicated their journey. Sweden’s Ayari scored in the 7th minute of the first half.
The Tunisian Football Federation has now appointed French coach Hervé Renard as the new head coach. Renard will take charge until the end of the World Cup campaign, after which negotiations for a permanent contract will take place. Reports suggest Hervé Renard will soon arrive in Monterrey to join the team in preparation for their next group match against Japan.
