Islamabad (Lord Media): The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking an 82 paisa per unit increase in electricity prices. This request has been filed under the monthly fuel price adjustment for May.
NEPRA is scheduled to hold a hearing on this request on June 30, after which a final decision will be made based on a technical review to determine whether the price increase will be implemented.
The CPPA reported that the average fuel cost for electricity generation in May was 9 rupees 25 paisa per unit.
If NEPRA approves the request, electricity consumers across the country will face an additional financial burden of 12 billion rupees.
