Egypt, Belgium draw 1-1 in World Cup opener

New York (Lord Media): In the opening match of Group G at the FIFA World Cup 2026, Egypt and Belgium played to a 1-1 draw. Egypt took the lead when Imam Ashour scored from a Mohamed Salah pass in the 20th minute.

Belgium equalized in the 66th minute, capitalizing on Romelu Lukaku’s presence. A cross from Thomas Meunier led to an own goal by Egyptian defender Mohamed Hany.
