Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran following intensive negotiations, with a formal signing ceremony scheduled to take place in Switzerland later this week.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the prime minister said both sides had agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, marking what he described as a significant step toward regional stability.
“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been reached,” Sharif said.
According to the prime minister, the official signing ceremony will be held on June 19 in Switzerland, where representatives of both countries are expected to formalize the agreement.
Sharif welcomed the breakthrough and praised Washington and Tehran for their commitment to resolving the conflict through diplomacy rather than continued military confrontation.
He also acknowledged the role of regional mediators and partners who helped facilitate the negotiations. The prime minister expressed gratitude to Qatar for its support in the mediation process and commended the leadership of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for what he described as their significant contributions toward achieving the agreement.
“With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week,” Sharif said, adding that the discussions would focus on pre-implementation arrangements and help prepare the groundwork for technical-level talks ahead of the formal signing ceremony.
The announcement comes amid heightened international efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East and pursue diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.
No immediate official statements were issued by U.S. or Iranian authorities regarding the details of the agreement. LORD
