Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Monday welcomed the understanding between the United States and Iran, calling it a significant diplomatic breakthrough that could enhance regional stability and global economic confidence.
In a statement on social media platform X, Dar highlighted the power of sustained diplomatic engagement and the collective resolve of nations to prioritize dialogue over confrontation.
The foreign minister noted that this understanding sends a reassuring message to the international community, potentially strengthening confidence and stability in global markets, especially for developing countries vulnerable to regional instability.
Dar emphasized Pakistan’s active engagement with all parties throughout the process, advocating for restraint and constructive engagement, maintaining that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable means for resolving disputes.
He appreciated the trust placed in Pakistan by the leadership of both the U.S. and Iran and commended their commitment to a peaceful and negotiated outcome.
The minister acknowledged the diplomatic efforts of countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, and Egypt, as well as the United Nations and other international partners involved in the negotiations.
“As negotiations continue on outstanding matters, Pakistan stands ready to support efforts to consolidate this progress,” Dar said.
He added that Pakistan looks forward to the formal signing ceremony on June 19 in Geneva, expressing confidence that this development would pave the way for lasting peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the region and beyond.
