UK PM backs Iran deal in call with Trump

According to a statement from the British Prime Minister’s office, Starmer stated that any agreement concerning Iran should not only aim to end immediate tensions but also establish a framework ensuring future peace and stability.

The statement added that the UK is ready to assist in implementing any potential peace agreement and will work alongside international partners to ensure the agreement’s success and regional stability.

The two leaders also discussed the latest situation in the Middle East, ongoing diplomatic engagements with Iran, and the impact on the global economy, agreeing on the necessity of fully restoring maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the British Prime Minister’s office, Starmer and Trump agreed to maintain close contact in the coming days and emphasized the need for joint diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region.

This conversation occurred as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that a memorandum of understanding with Iran would be signed on Sunday.
