Islamabad (Lord Media): Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the convener of Awam Pakistan Party, stated that the root cause of Pakistan’s economic troubles is not the IMF, but governmental policies. Speaking at a press conference, he highlighted that the government is spending beyond its means and the budget lacks relief.
Abbasi expressed concern over the financial affairs of the federal and provincial governments, noting that the country is burdened by debt while interest payments are straining the economy.
He emphasized that economic weakness is impacting national security and imposing more taxes on the public is not a solution. Abbasi urged for the prevention of national resource wastage.
He asserted that national consensus is essential to overcome the economic crisis, and the current budget does not meet public expectations.
Abbasi further stated that escaping the cycle of debt, inflation, and taxes is crucial, and without political stability, investment will not flow into the country.
