Geneva (Lord Media): The United States and Iran are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on Sunday, ahead of the G7 Summit in Geneva, according to Bloomberg.
The American media reports that the preliminary agreement between the two nations includes the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a 60-day ceasefire. The easing of sanctions will be contingent upon Iran’s actions, while nuclear negotiations will continue during the ceasefire.
Iranian media states that the memorandum includes the withdrawal of American troops, the lifting of blockades in the Gulf of Oman, and the removal of sanctions on Iranian oil.
President Trump has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened within a week following the agreement, expressing confidence in the approval of the Iranian Supreme Leader.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry responded to the U.S. President’s statement, noting that no final decision has been made and diplomatic contacts are ongoing, but Iran will not compromise on its red lines.
