Islamabad (Lord Media): Pakistani citizens aboard a ship in Somalia have been held hostage for 15 days, and Pakistan is actively working for their safe release, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson. During a weekly media briefing, the spokesperson revealed that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has contacted Somalia’s Foreign Minister to discuss ongoing efforts for the hostages’ release.
The spokesperson further stated that the Somali ambassador in Islamabad was summoned for detailed discussions on the matter. Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the current situation in the Middle East and emphasizes the need for reducing tensions in the region.
Additionally, the spokesperson mentioned that a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel was achieved through U.S. mediation. Recently, Lebanon’s armed forces chief, Rodolphe Hekal, visited Pakistan and met with the Chief of Army Staff.
The spokesperson also noted that the Deputy Prime Minister has been in contact with the Turkish Foreign Minister, while Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Tehran to deliver a state message to the Iranian leadership.
In response to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding Kashmir, the spokesperson stated that Pakistan rejects the statement and recognizes the international status of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan will continue its diplomatic, political, and moral support for the Kashmiri people.
