China, Uzbekistan pledge stronger Belt and Road cooperation

China has expressed readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan and deepen bilateral ties under the framework of a shared future partnership, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong said on Thursday.

According to details released by Chinese state media, Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Beijing.

The two leaders co-chaired the 8th meeting of the China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, where they reviewed progress in bilateral relations and discussed future areas of cooperation.

Liu said China is committed to working with Uzbekistan in line with the strategic direction set by the leadership of both countries, adding that the intergovernmental committee should continue to play a key coordinating role in advancing cooperation.

He stressed that both sides should firmly support each other on core national interests and further deepen collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly in areas of trade, energy, transport, agriculture, science and technology, cultural exchange, security, and poverty reduction.

Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov described China as a long-term and reliable strategic partner and reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening high-level exchanges and expanding practical cooperation across multiple sectors.

He also reiterated Uzbekistan’s support for the One-China policy and expressed willingness to jointly implement China’s global initiatives aimed at promoting international development and security cooperation.

Both sides agreed that continued engagement and institutional coordination will further enhance the China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership and contribute to regional stability and development.
