Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House on Monday, where both sides reviewed bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Welcoming the ambassador, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani praised his role in strengthening ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to long-standing and friendly relations rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for regional peace and prosperity.
The two sides held detailed discussions on political and parliamentary cooperation, trade and economic relations, and regional connectivity. The Senate chairman described the recent state visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan as a landmark development that has elevated bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, Gilani called for stronger institutional linkages between the legislatures of both countries, including regular high-level exchanges and the reactivation of parliamentary friendship groups to enhance dialogue and share legislative best practices.
On economic cooperation, he noted positive momentum in bilateral trade, particularly in agriculture, and stressed the need to further enhance connectivity. He highlighted the importance of establishing direct air links to facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people contact between the two countries.
Regional cooperation also featured prominently during the meeting. The Senate chairman reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional market access and supporting initiatives that strengthen inter-regional connectivity, stating that peace and stability are essential for sustainable economic growth.
Ambassador Kistafin appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and connectivity and expressed Kazakhstan’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Islamabad across diverse sectors.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and agreed to maintain close engagement through sustained dialogue at various institutional levels.
