On the occasion of World Heritage Day, an official message was issued extending greetings to the nation and highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations in line with global recognition by UNESCO.
The message emphasized that Pakistan is endowed with a rich and diverse heritage reflecting its historical depth, cultural vibrancy, and the resilience of its people. It noted that from ancient civilizations to architectural landmarks and living traditions, the country’s heritage remains a strong source of national identity and pride.
It further stated that Pakistan’s historical legacy spans from the Paleolithic and Neolithic eras to the Bronze Age, including the Indus Valley Civilization, Gandhara art, Islamic cultural heritage, and the architectural grandeur of the Mughal period. The country’s World Heritage sites represent significant contributions from these civilizations, showcasing Indus Valley remains, Buddhist artistic traditions of Gandhara, and Indo-Islamic forts and Mughal-era monuments.
The message called upon all stakeholders, including government institutions, provincial authorities, local communities, and the youth, to collectively work for the protection, conservation, and promotion of heritage assets. It stressed that sustainable preservation is both a national responsibility and an opportunity to promote tourism, education, and socio-economic development.
It was further highlighted that heritage departments across the country remain committed to the conservation, protection, maintenance, and effective management of World Heritage sites and monuments through modern techniques and professional expertise.
The message concluded with a call to reaffirm collective resolve to preserve Pakistan’s cultural legacy and pass it on to future generations in a protected and enriched form.
