Argentine football legend Lionel Messi has reportedly acquired Spanish club UE Cornella, marking a significant development in his career beyond the pitch.
The club officially announced that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has taken ownership of UE Cornella, which currently competes in the fifth tier of Spanish football.
The 38-year-old forward is presently playing for Inter Miami CF, continuing his professional career while expanding his involvement in football management.
Messi spent the majority of his illustrious career at FC Barcelona, where he secured four UEFA Champions League titles and 10 La Liga trophies. He remains the club’s all-time top scorer, with 672 goals in 778 appearances.
According to club officials, Messi’s move reflects his strong ties to Catalonia and his commitment to nurturing local talent. UE Cornella’s stadium, which has a capacity of around 1,500 spectators, has previously produced several notable players.
The acquisition is being viewed as the beginning of a new era for the club, with a focus on long-term development, structural stability and investment in youth talent.
