China has reaffirmed its commitment to playing a constructive role in restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East, Mao Ning said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Mao highlighted that as a responsible major country, China will continue to make positive contributions to regional peace and tranquility. “China attaches great importance to promoting dialogue and diplomatic solutions to conflicts in the region, and we are ready to work with all relevant parties to restore stability,” she said.
Mao noted that China has already undertaken extensive diplomatic efforts to facilitate de-escalation and mediation, particularly in light of the recent U.S.–Iran tensions. The spokesperson emphasized that safeguarding peace in the Gulf and Middle East aligns with the common interests of the international community, including safe maritime trade routes and energy security.
She added that China consistently advocates for resolving disputes through political and diplomatic channels, aiming to prevent further escalation and ensure sustainable regional stability. “We urge all parties to engage constructively, maintain dialogue, and prioritize peaceful resolutions,” Mao stated.
The statement comes amid ongoing international attention on the Strait of Hormuz and broader Gulf region, where China, alongside other nations, has actively supported ceasefire arrangements and confidence-building measures between conflicting parties.
Mao reaffirmed China’s readiness to continue contributing to multilateral initiatives and dialogues designed to restore normalcy, protect civilians, and uphold international law in the region.
