China and the United States have discussed the establishment of a bilateral working mechanism to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, China’s International Trade Representative said on Monday following talks between delegations in Paris, according to Chinese official news agency.
The Chinese representative emphasized that both sides agreed on the importance of creating a structured dialogue to address trade and investment challenges, explore mutually beneficial opportunities, and maintain stable bilateral economic relations. “Stable economic and trade relations between China and the United States are not only beneficial to both countries but also to the global economy,” the representative said during a press briefing.
The envoy also reiterated China’s consistent opposition to unilateral investigations under Section 301, stressing that such probes disrupt fair trade practices and bilateral cooperation. He underscored that China’s position on Section 301 investigations has remained unchanged, reflecting Beijing’s commitment to rules-based trade engagement.
Media reported that the talks in Paris are part of ongoing efforts to stabilize U.S.-China trade ties, improve market access, and promote investment flows while addressing global economic uncertainties. The proposed bilateral mechanism aims to provide a sustainable framework for negotiation, ensure effective communication, and advance economic cooperation in key sectors.
The discussions reflect a broader commitment by both countries to strengthen dialogue channels, prevent unilateral actions that could escalate tensions, and support global economic stability amid ongoing international trade challenges.
