Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday ordered the continuation of strict and indiscriminate action against human smuggling networks and organized begging mafias, directing the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to further tighten immigration controls at airports.
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the interior minister to review the performance of the FIA’s Immigration Wing. The meeting assessed ongoing operations against illegal immigration and human trafficking, as well as enforcement actions targeting professional begging networks and their facilitators.
Mohsin Naqvi instructed authorities to pursue those involved in illegal immigration and human smuggling without discrimination, stressing that no leniency would be shown to individuals or groups engaged in such crimes. He also ordered an effective crackdown on professional begging mafias and those providing them protection.
“No one involved in human smuggling deserves any concession,” the interior minister said, adding that Pakistan’s reputation must not be allowed to suffer under any circumstances.
He directed the FIA to ensure strict implementation of immigration laws and to further strengthen the immigration checking system at airports. He emphasized rigorous screening of travel documents to prevent misuse and illegal movement across borders.
The meeting was attended by the federal secretary interior, additional secretary interior, director general FIA, and the FIA directors of Karachi and Lahore zones.
