Senior Pakistani actress Nadia Afghan has expressed strong anger over the cutting of trees in Punjab, criticising the provincial government in a video shared on social media.
In the video, Nadia Afghan questioned the policies of the Punjab government, saying she finds it difficult to understand its approach. She remarked that one day she praises the government, and the next day its actions undo those very efforts.
The actress said that despite court-imposed restrictions, trees are continuing to be cut across the province. She warned that Punjab is already facing severe smog conditions and that instead of planting more trees, authorities are removing existing ones.
Nadia Afghan also claimed that a 150-year-old tree was recently cut down in Lahore. She criticised the government for issuing orders that, according to her, are not properly implemented. She appealed to the authorities to immediately stop cutting trees.
In addition, the actress raised concerns about the killing of stray dogs. She said the Lahore High Court has banned the killing of dogs, yet reports suggest that the practice is continuing. Referring to a social media post, she alleged that poison and guns have been provided for this purpose.
Her video has sparked debate online, with users discussing environmental protection, animal rights, and the enforcement of court orders in Punjab.
