Roti prices rise as fuel costs climb

LAHORE (Lord Media): Following the increase in petrol prices, naan bakers have raised the prices of roti and naan. The price of roti has increased by 9 rupees and naan by 10 rupees, now costing 25 rupees and 35 rupees respectively. Bakers state that a 20 kg flour bag costs 2400 rupees, and if not allowed to sell at these prices, they will shut down their tandoors.

In various areas of Karachi, roti prices have also risen by 5 rupees, with 20 rupee rotis now selling for 25 rupees. The Director General of Food has indicated that wheat prices will be reduced over time.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar, the price of a 20 kg flour bag has increased by 300 rupees, now costing 3000 rupees. In Quetta, the same bag costs 2800 rupees, with roti being sold at 40 rupees at tandoors.
