WEST VALLEY CITY (Lord Media): A Muslim man was attacked in Utah’s West Valley City in a hate crime incident. Police reported that the assailant stabbed the victim multiple times, admitting to targeting Muslims.
The incident occurred at Valley Fair Mall, where the victim was working at a kiosk. According to police, 48-year-old Peter Michael Larsen asked the victim’s name and religion before launching the knife attack.
The victim sustained deep wounds and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Reports indicate he was stabbed approximately 15 times.
Courageous citizens managed to subdue the attacker, who was later arrested by police. Charges of attempted murder and use of a dangerous weapon have been filed against the suspect.
American Muslim organizations, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations, condemned the attack, labeling it a distressing incident of Islamophobia. Human rights activists claim that incidents of Islamophobia are on the rise in the United States.
