ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene today in Islamabad to sight the moon for the month of Safar al-Muzaffar 1448 Hijri. The meeting will be chaired by the committee’s chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. The decision on the moon’s sighting will be based on testimonies received from across the country. Zonal committees will hold meetings at their respective locations.
The Meteorological Department has predicted a clear likelihood of sighting the Safar al-Muzaffar moon this evening, with the first of Safar expected on July 16 in Pakistan. According to the department, the new moon was born on July 14 at 2:43 PM.
Meteorological experts state that astronomical conditions are highly favorable for moon sighting, with clear weather expected in most parts of the country, including Sindh. In Karachi, the moon will remain on the horizon for approximately 64 minutes after sunset, with visibility possible until 8:28 PM.
