ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The Government of Pakistan has declared July 13 as a national day of mourning to honor the late former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The national flag will be flown at half-mast across the country.
According to a notification by the Cabinet Division, the national day of mourning will be observed following the announcement by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The national flag on government buildings will be lowered to express respect for the deceased and solidarity with the people of Qatar.
The Government of Pakistan paid tribute to the former Emir of Qatar, acknowledging Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s significant role in the development and stability of Qatar.
Pakistan and Qatar maintain fraternal relations, with close cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and manpower sectors.
The funeral prayer for the former Emir was held in Doha, attended by Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and other high-ranking officials.
Qatar has announced a four-day mourning period for the former Emir’s passing, while the British Embassy has also expressed condolences by lowering the Union Flag.
