BEIRUT (Lord Media): The United States and Lebanese officials have announced that the U.S. will oversee the withdrawal of Israeli forces from specific areas in southern Lebanon, with new negotiations between Israel and Lebanon expected next week.
According to U.S. officials, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from established pilot zones in southern Lebanon will commence in the coming days, under the supervision of the U.S. Central Command. An American official stated that the U.S. will engage with international partners to restore Lebanese government authority in these areas.
Lebanon had previously clarified that it would not participate in negotiations without the withdrawal of Israeli forces. However, the initiation of the withdrawal has paved the way for talks to resume.
Under the framework agreement reached on June 26, Israel agreed to withdraw its troops from areas in southern Lebanon where it had maintained a presence during operations against Hezbollah. Following the Israeli withdrawal, the Lebanese army is set to take control of two specific areas.
