Govt report confirms martyrdom of 27 personnel in Mangi Dam attack

QUETTA (Lord Media): The provincial government has released a report on the attack at Mangi Dam checkpoint, confirming the martyrdom of 27 security personnel. According to the report, security personnel resisted until the end.

The report states that on July 6, around 35 police officers, led by a DSP, were stationed when militants attacked. Upon receiving information, the Frontier Corps dispatched a helicopter for aerial surveillance and sent additional police reinforcements.

The government report highlighted that the terrorists intermittently fired to deplete police ammunition, but the personnel remained steadfast. By evening, the ammunition was exhausted, yet the personnel held their positions.

When police reinforcements arrived, the terrorists attacked them as well. The FC responded with drones and mortar fire. In the intense clash, 15 terrorists were killed, 9 police officers lost their lives, and 3 were injured.

According to the report, when ammunition ran out, the personnel split into two groups. One group safely retreated, while the other was taken hostage by the terrorists.

The government noted that the area’s challenging geography limits combat and movement. Following the incident, the FC and army initiated a combing operation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his visit to Balochistan, expressed his determination to eradicate terrorism, stating that the fight will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.
