TEHRAN (Lord Media): Three members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in U.S. airstrikes in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, according to Iranian news agencies. The strikes come amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, with Tehran threatening to target U.S. military bases in the region in response.
According to Qatar’s Al Jazeera, the U.S. attacks in Khuzestan resulted in the deaths of three IRGC personnel. The IRGC’s public relations department in Khuzestan stated that various areas in the province were targeted on Thursday.
The U.S. strikes occurred as Iran adopted a firm stance regarding ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Reports indicate that the U.S. conducted actions against Iran for a second consecutive day.
Reuters reported that the rising tensions have affected the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, with only two tankers passing through the crucial waterway on Thursday morning.
U.S. President Donald Trump declared the end of a reconciliation agreement with Iran, heightening military tensions between the two countries.
The IRGC claimed it would target U.S. interests in the region in retaliation for the U.S. strikes and warned of a severe response to further aggression.
Observers suggest the conflict between Iran and the U.S. is intensifying, creating uncertainty about the region’s future. U.S. officials have yet to formally respond to Iran’s claims of casualties.
