PCB announces four-team ODI tournament in August

LAHORE (Lord Media): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the organization of a four-team One Day International (ODI) tournament next month. According to the PCB, this tournament will take place in August, prior to the start of the first-class season.

Director of the High Performance Centre, Aaqib Javed, stated that with approximately a year and a half remaining until the 2027 World Cup, it is time to begin preparations. This tournament is being organized to develop an effective pool of players ahead of the World Cup.

He mentioned that selectors and coaches have collaboratively designed the four-team tournament, which will feature all white-ball players. Selectors and coaches will form the playing eleven according to each player’s role, aiding in the decision-making for the future pool.

Aaqib Javed further stated that the matches will be televised, showcasing players’ performances, which will simplify the pool formation process. He added that Pakistan’s team should rank in the top four in ODIs, and an improvement in ranking is expected.
