TEHRAN (Lord Media): Approximately 63 million barrels of Iranian crude oil are stranded at sea following U.S. sanctions, according to vessel tracking data. These tankers are either anchored or in transit at various locations from the Persian Gulf to the Strait of Malacca, creating uncertainty in oil deliveries.
The report suggests that if regional tensions persist and the U.S. tightens its maritime blockade, an additional 50 million barrels of crude oil and refined petroleum products may also remain unexported.
The U.S. reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil sales yesterday, accusing Iran of targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Treasury Department has also shortened the waiver period for Iran to sell oil, reducing it from August 21 to July 17, potentially increasing pressure on Iran’s economy.
