Parties urge dialogue to resolve Balochistan issues

Islamabad (Lord Media): An all-parties conference organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf emphasized resolving Balochistan’s issues through dialogue rather than force. Participants called for the recovery of missing persons, transparent elections, and equitable resource distribution among locals.

The conference, held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, was chaired by Akhtar Khan Mengal. Key attendees included opposition leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai, JUI’s Salahuddin, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Mohsin Dawar, Maulana Shakir, and other political leaders.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Maulana Shakir highlighted that poverty and unemployment in Balochistan are driving youth towards crime, stressing the importance of recovering missing persons. JUI’s Maulana Salahuddin noted that despite the Chaman border closure, terrorism has increased, adversely affecting Pakistani traders.

National Party Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi stated that Balochistan’s issue is political, not security-related, and requires serious attention. Awami National Party’s Asghar Khan Achakzai linked terrorism to resource exploitation.

National Democratic Movement’s Mohsin Dawar pointed out that border closures are harming business, and called for the release of political prisoners. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar expressed concern over the rampant drug trade and weakening state authority in Balochistan.

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi advocated for resolving issues through dialogue rather than force. PTI’s Asad Qaiser announced plans to convene a jirga to address law and order issues in Balochistan.

The declaration demanded negotiations with political parties and stakeholders in Balochistan and the release of political prisoners.
